For this altar to be effective you should be able to see the flowers on either side of the obelisk without being distracted. Setting your altar up exactly as shown and resisting the temptation to add anything else to it is the KEY! In place of an obelisk you can use any object that you have that is long and narrow. Using a figurine may be distracting so try to make it something simple. This altar works like magic for centering and balancing yourself. Here is an easy altar to make and use for centering and balancing. It can be used day or night, during your meditations or just to have as a reminder of your intent to become a more balanced and centered person. You will need: Place the tray of sand in the center of a small table or altar. Place the obelisk in the center of the sand. Fill each of the two small bowls or containers with
water. You can put 2 small tea light candles towards the back of this arrangement if using it at night or you can place as many candles as you like around the room. Light some incense. Sit facing your altar in meditation or contemplation, asking for guidance to reveal areas of your life that need more balance. Notice how the flowers and the obelisk look almost like a set of scales. Feel yourself becoming more and more centered as you focus on the obelisk and more balanced as you see the flowers in your peripheral vision. Write down any inspirations or ideas you get.
