Your Peace Altar - real simple, real powerful

I have an altar in my living room, right on my coffee table that brings me a sense of immediate peace just by looking at it. Sitting in front of this altar when you perform your peace ritual is most beneficial. I'll show you how to create one for yourself.

One of the most important things to remember when creating any altar is to include symbols for the four elements; Fire, Earth, Water, and Air. This makes for a nicely balanced altar and draws Universal energy to you. It lets the Universe know that you are serious!

The symbols I used for my Peace Altar are:

Calla Lilly - Symbol for peace.

Water - Symbol for emotions and the element of water.

Stones - Symbol for grounding and the element of earth.

Candles - Symbol for Spirit and the element of fire.

Incense - Lighting incense is part of consecrating your altar and is the symbol for air.

Kuan Yin - Symbol for compassion and understanding.

Books - Symbol (for me) of knowledge.  Knowledge is power. Use books that are empowering and meaningful to you.

You can buy fake Calla lilies at Michael's or Hobby Lobby that look real.  It is OK if you do not use real Calla lilies, although it would be nice to have the "real" ones.  Because the Calla Lilly is on our altar for symbolic reasons, we can use the manufactured kind.  But DO put water in the vase you use to hold them.

Arrange the items on your altar to that they create a sense of balance.  Try to have the tallest (the lilies in this case) in the back or off to one side and the smaller items in front.

You will see that I also have Mala beads on my altar.  You can add prayer beads of any kind to any of your altars as a symbol that connects you to the Divine Mother.

You can place this altar anywhere in your home.  It doesn't have to be on your coffee table.  However, you will want to choose a space that allows you to easily sit before your altar. Performing your forgiveness ritual before this altar is very empowering.  You will walk away from it a different person than when you began.  I guarantee it!
